There are a lot of passages in the Bible that don’t make much sense to us. On The Bible Recap, Tara-Leigh doesn’t shy away from those challenging chapters. For more downloadable Bible podcasts, check this out.
D-Group
Our primary mission is to make disciples, and the best way we know to do that is in small groups. We use a curriculum called GO Disciple to help our D-Groups find the accountability, prayer, and richness of Scripture they need to grow.
D-Groups are gender-specific closed groups of 3-5 believers who meet weekly for accelerated spiritual transformation. They typically form through pre-existing meaningful relationships in environments like Community Groups or Volunteer Teams.
The goal of a D-Group is to prepare its members for Jesus’ commission to “make more disciples.” This happens when people in your group invite new people to their D-Group or to start their own. They share their faith with friends, family members, co-workers, or neighbours. They can even lead a D-Group themselves! This is the second step on our discipleship pathway. For more information, see our D-Group Overview.

The Bible Project
Founded by friends Jon Collins and Tim Mackie, The Bible Project’s mission is to help “the world see the Bible as one unified story that leads to Jesus.” They use high-quality video to present Scripture in a compelling way that helps readers understand its overarching narrative from Genesis through Revelation. They have a vast library of videos broken up into Series, Themes, Word Studies, and How to Read the Bible.
For example, the episode on “Chaos Dragon Q+R 2” explores the biblical theme of chaos and its importance in the book of Revelation. It also highlights the complexities of biblical storytelling and theological interpretation.
Overall, the Bible Project’s content is helpful for all types of readers, whether they are curious about Scripture or seasoned believers. The podcasts offer valuable insights into literary patterns and biblical themes and strengthen the connection between faith and scripture understanding. Their approach to the Bible is unique and exciting, which can get anyone excited about rereading it. For more downloadable Bible podcasts, check this out.
The Book Club
Book club gives students accountability in meeting their reading goals and provides a safe environment to share opinions openly and respectfully. It also helps them expand their horizons by discovering genres they might not usually read independently.
Some clubs allow members to take turns facilitating discussions by leading questions and encouraging participation. Other groups may use icebreaker activities, board games, or food for a show-and-tell of the book’s objects and scenes to help start the conversation.
Depending on the book’s focus, book clubs can be a fun and engaging way to learn about history (in The Dictionary of Lost Words), culture (in Educated), social issues, or everyday topics. The conversations are bound to be revealing, allowing readers to see that their views might differ. This can be healthy and enlightening, but it can also be challenging for young children. It is a good idea to introduce a set of loose guidelines for the group, such as “no interrupting,” or “we will all take turns facilitating discussion.” Fountas & Pinnell Classroom offers discussion guides for many titles.
